8/19/10 Third Quarter Report
Since my last report, I have been busy with emails and phone calls, which take an average of 4 to 8 hours a week depending on the amount of mail.
I attended the April meeting in Syracuse N.Y. and for a change, there were no flight delays. Flew all day Friday, meetings Friday night, all day Saturday and flew home Sunday. We were able to cover the whole agenda and still smile afterwards.
In June, I attended the Western Rally in Calgary Alberta, hosted by Alberta 3. The ride to Calgary was great except for the 3-hour detour as #1 highway was closed due to a washout. This was a wonderful time with all of the rides and activities that they had arranged. Thursday night was a social time and I was honored to be presented a White Stetson, making me an Honorary Calgarian.
Friday we had a nice ride to Drumheller and visited the Museum, Little rain on ride back to hotel. Friday night they had a Barbeque and had the Stampede Princesses on hand with live music.
Saturday we rode to Kaninaskus and saw some beautiful scenery. Saturday night we had a banquet and about a ½ hr informational meeting where I received the support of the members to run for the position of Western Director for another term.
I will be attending the International Convention, just over 1500 miles so I will have to leave on Sunday to get there for Tuesday night, as we will be having a meeting on the Wednesday.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at convention.
Gil Rekken Western Director
March 2010 Newsletter Western Region Director, Gil Rekken Hope all is well with everyone in the new year.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone in June at the Western Rally in Calgary.
I have emailed all the Chapter Presidents and MAL’s regarding the rally – I hope to see as many of you as possible.
I will be attending the meeting in Syracuse in April. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like me to bring up, please let me know.
The roads are finally drying up and hopefully the snow is done, I’m sure some of you have been on the road already. I am looking forward to taking the bike out on Tuesday, (March 16) unheard of for Manitoba.
Again, if anyone has any questions or problems in the Western Region please contact me and I will try to find answers. I have been honored to be your representative on the board and would ask for your support at the next convention as I will be running for re-election.
Stay Safe, Gil Rekken
